Aflac ranked number 47 on the list.

COLUMBUS, Ga., Jan. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Aflac Incorporated today was named the 47th best company to work for in America according to the results of FORTUNE magazine's ninth annual "100 Best Companies To Work For" survey. The leading insurer moved up 18 places from last year to earn a top 50 spot on the highly sought-after list.

"It is an absolute honor to again be included on this prestigious list," said Dan Amos, Aflac chairman and CEO. "Aflac is thankful to the thousands of dedicated employees whose daily hard work makes our organization a success. It is gratifying to know they consider Aflac as an employer of choice. We are committed to ensuring that their work experience remains a positive one with opportunities for professional growth."

To compile the list, FORTUNE evaluated the company policies, corporate culture and employee opinions of top organizations using a questionnaire developed by the Great Place to Work Institute in San Francisco. To determine the rankings, the survey evaluated criteria such as credibility (communication to employees), respect (opportunities and benefits), fairness (compensation, diversity), and pride/camaraderie (philanthropy, celebrations). FORTUNE polled randomly selected employees at each of the U.S.-based companies selected for the process.

Aflac employees cited company benefits, corporate programs and employee appreciation celebrations as reasons for job satisfaction. Survey rankings are currently available at www.fortune.com and will be featured in FORTUNE's January 23, 2006 print issue available on stands January 16.

In 2005, Aflac was named to a total of five FORTUNE magazine listings, including America's Most Admired Companies and the Top 50 Companies for Minorities. As recently as December, Aflac was listed as one of FORTUNE's Top 50 Employers for Women.

Aflac is the number one provider of guaranteed-renewable insurance in the United States and the number one insurance company in terms of individual insurance policies in force in Japan. Aflac's insurance products provide protection to more than 40 million people worldwide. In January 2005, Aflac was included in Fortune magazine's list of the 100 Best Companies to Work For in America for the seventh consecutive year. Aflac has also been included in Fortune magazine's listing of America's Most Admired Companies for five consecutive years. Aflac Incorporated is a Fortune 500 company listed on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol AFL.
