Maritime Life sells its products through a distribution channel that comprises more than 6,000 independent registered financial advisors across Canada. The company had been using a client or server application, called InfoCentre, to support the information needs of its financial advisors; however, two recent industry trends necessitated an upgrade. The growing importance of investment products within the life insurance business, and increased competitive pressures forced Maritime Life to improve the information flow between financial advisors and company headquarters.
They needed a web enabled, powerful enterprise reporting solution to move their InfoCentre application online and better support their financial advisors and they make it for their financial advisors to conduct business with them, the more likely they are to choose Maritime Life product over their competitors. Providing advisors anytime, anywhere web based access to all their customers' policy and product information would be a key service differentiator.
Maritime Life engaged Qunara to design and implement the next iteration of InfoCentre, which features a business objects solution that helps provide financial advisors on demand access to valuable client information.
Maritime Life is now in a position to offer similar services as mutual fund companies and banks, eventually using InfoCentre and business objects to provide customers with online access to their investment information.
