GELFOND MICHAEL
The doctor has been a physician at Oakland Kaiser ever since graduating from medical school in 1986. He always felt privileged to serve in a Medical Center surrounded by so many excellent doctors whose overriding intention is to provide the best possible care to their community. He continues to love working here, for many reasons. One of those reasons is that the ease of communication with consulting services allows us to get the whole medical team synchronized for the patients' benefit. He is also a big fan of the Kaiser system's emphasis on preventative medicine and patient education.
Working in the Emergency Department can sometimes be stressful, but he has found that the rewards of helping people through difficult and occasionally dramatic times are great. When he is not at work he likes to refresh myself by jogging and swimming. He also likes to try to play the piano, to cook, read, and use his new Netflix subscription. And, though he has left it for the last sentence, as is true of most people, his family is a hugely important part of his life.
