HAMBLETON, JULIE; MD
Dr. Julie Hambleton, MD, is Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine at the University of California in San Francisco. She is also the Director of the Comprehensive Hemostasis and Thrombosis Service, Anticoagulation Clinic, as well as, the Director of the Adult Program of the Hemophilia Treatment Center at the University of California in San Francisco.
Dr. Hambleton is a member of several professional organizations including the International Society of Thrombosis and Haemostasis, the American Society of Hematology, the National Hemophilia Foundation and the American Association for the Advancement of Science. Her research has been published most recently in the journals American Journal of Hematology, American Journal of Medicine and Proceedings of the National Academy of Science, as well as in the textbook Hospital Medicine, Basic and Clinical Pharmacology and The Encyclopedia of Human Biology.
She has completed a number of hematology related studies on blood safety and development of a prothrombin time fingerstick device. She serves as Principal Investigator of numerous ongoing studies, including studies on women with bleeding and clotting disorders, hemophilia, optimal duration of oral anticoagulation in patients with venous thromboembolic disease and two Phase III trials evaluating a new oral anticoagulant. She has been engaged nationally as a speaker on such topics as women and bleeding disorders, diagnosis of von Willebrand disease, hemophilia, and heparin as well as topics on the treatment and prophylaxis of venous thromboembolic disease.
