Harry Andrews was a UNC alumnus and pediatrician in Louisville. He was born in Tarboro in 1903. He received a B.A. from UNC in 1925, a Certificate of Medicine from the University in 1927 and an M.D. from Vanderbilt University in 1929.
 
Harry and Bess Andrews of Louisville, Ky. established the Harry Andrews Professorship in Pediatrics as bequests, in 1969. In 1995, the University received $287,000 from Bess Andrews estate after her last beneficiary died. The University will receive another donation upon the death of the last beneficiary of a separate trust set up by her husband, Harry, who died in 1974.
 
Harry moved to Louisville in 1930 to serve his residency in pediatrics at Louisville General Hospital. He served as medical director of the old Children's Hospital from 1931 to 1939. During that time, he also was a full time professor of pediatrics at the University Of Louisville School Of Medicine for five years.
 
During World War II, Harry entered the U.S. Army and served in the Medical Corps. In 1957, Harry helped organize the cleft palate clinic at Kosair Children Hospital in Louisville. He also served as director of the clinic.
